The cover version of the song "The Jeweller" in this student film was done by "This Mortal Coil" from their album "Filigree And Shadow". "The Jeweller" is a song from Tom Rapp's album "The Use Of Ashes". The opening track, "The Jeweler", with its refrain of "He knows the use of ashes / He worships God with ashes", came to him when he saw his wife cleaning a piece of jewelry with a paste made from ashes, and is generally regarded as one of his finest and most poetic songs. Recorded in Nashville, March 1970. The video was shot using an ARRI 16SR motion picture camera and edited with both an Upright Moviola and a Steenbeck flatbed editor. |
